What I did this weekend.

People that know me personally know that lately I’ve been having a B.O. problem. Because of our boiler being broke, but frankly that’s no excuse. I’ve called a plumber who was “gonna pass by asap, as soon as he’s got time”. I waited for a week, in fact, still no news from the guy, but after a week I took matters into my own hands. I sourced the exact same boiler second hand from somewhere in Holland for 40 Euros, nearly new.

Well, the “exact same boiler” turned out to be “nearly the exact same boiler” as it was set up for Natural gas, while we run on propane.
Now what to do?
Google it!
So after some clicking I found out that the only difference between the two is the size of the jets, so it came down to taking both apart and swapping the jets, which I did.

So what did I learn?
Well, about boilers and gas and jet sizes, but more importantly about how digital is affecting the economy.
We are not evolving to, but are already in, an era where it’s not about whether you know how to do something, but whether you know where to learn it.

I hope my plumber reads this.

Idiots.

This is a really good advert, it’s called “Idiots”

Apparently it’s a MTV video, so I presume it plays on MTV too. But what’s great here is the way they posted it on Youtube. The title is Idiots. Period. So when you start watching the video, you think you’re watching the idiots, but no, you reach the end and realize the idiots are the ones don’t take a cab and drink and drive. So how they posted it to youtube reinforces the premise of the ad. This is something that’s so often overlooked. The other end of the spectrum here are all the adverts posted to youtube that have the title “Viral Video #8″ or whatever.
It’s a small effort, yet a world of difference.

Change the world while sleeping.

I thought Duvall Guillaume’s Blind Call campaign was really smart. This is along the same line: it’s an alarm clock, and every time you hit the snooze button you donate to charity.

The Decapitator.

Someone’s going around London beheading advertisements:

Walking the walk.

This is cool, a “save energy” commercial made by recycling old “save energy” commercials.

A New Day…

… is dawning in my home country (the USA).

Barack has decisively won the Iowa caucuses — the first stage of the long and bewildering process of electing the next president.

Greatness is rare among politicians of any age and it has been positively absent from American politics for two generations. Some of us are daring to hope that this man has it in him.

Here’s his victory speech — see what you think.
