Why the radio silence?
Because I’ve been under the weather and because the next month I’ll be blogging here. A blog about Wieden Kennedy’s talent hunt and me being a little rabbit with a death wish. It’s probably not that good of an idea to do this so publicly. For one thing all my mates will forever refer to me as THE L-O-S-E-R if I don’t make it. But as per their motto, when you fail you should at least try to learn something from it. Documenting the whole process should help me do this, so that’s the reason behind that blog.
The Future of Cinema
Here is a short film that uses a new pseudo-3D technique to tell a story in a totally new way. The “eye” of the camera ranges through a frozen 3D space and reveals more detail than could be grasped in real time. The story itself is beside the point — what is going on here is a kind of little revolution in the essential grammar of cinema. That is a high-falutin’ way of saying: way cool!

A couple of clips from 30 Rock
Not the greatest moments, but there’s not a lot available on YouTube.

30 Rock
Over here in the USA, the funniest show on TV these days is called 30 Rock, a sitcom about the behind the scenes workings of a live TV comedy show. The best thing about it is Alec Baldwin, who is absolutely hilarious as a GE executive who oversees a division that includes microwave ovens and television programming.
It’s available for free on-line here: http://www.nbc.com/30_Rock/ — although, I’m not sure if it works outside the US.
