Smart move.

Instead of “In the air tonight” it’s turning into “I just can’t get enough”

Wonder how this is going to end. And if we’ll get to know about it?

I think that’s a good strategy. A mobile subscription in one of those things where you feel you’re going to get screwed over and there’s no way around it. So you live with it.
Be the first to position you as the not-srew-you-over provider and you’re a w -
Cool, a virtual walkie-talkie
Tinker Tool
Everyone’s probably way ahead of me, since I’m hardly a cutting edge computer guy, but I am going to make a suggestion anyway. Namely: TinkerTool — it allows you to customize the appearance and certain functionalities of Mac OSX (although not yet Leopard).
I’m sure TinkerTool does all sorts of cool things, but, frankly, I haven’t spent much time exploring the possibilities. I use it for one thing and one thing only — but it is a thing of major importance to me, a thing without which I would be a less contented man.
TinkerTool allows me to put my dock on the bottom right of the screen. In other words, where God intended it to be.
Like this, see?
I’m signing everything as of now.
I had a quick lunch at a brasserie today. I also went to the bathroom, where I was greeted by this:

a wall they hadn’t finished painting.
Then when I sat down, I noticed this:

Ooh, someone signed this. It’s art. And all of a sudden I kinda felt st00pid for not noticing right away it was art. (btw, the picture doesn’t do the whole thing justice, or actually, does it too much justice, when you walk in you’re so close to the wall you don’t notice a pattern)
So, just the fact that it’s signed was enough to make me feel different about this thing.
I’m sure there are lots of smart things about brands and stuff to be said about this, but I’ll leave this to smarter people than myself.

…and then the whole thing backfired in their oily faces.
I really liked the Dove evolution ad. I like the ad. As a guy in ads.
As a woman I would be insulted Dove thinks I would not see through the whole commercial-campaign-disguised-as-PSA thing.
And apparently I’m in touch with my feminine side because a lot of women seem to agree with me. It turns out Dove sales aren’t exactly skyrocketing.
So it was see-through from the beginning.
Now in this connected world where all info is at everyone’s fingertips, where everyone is a media, where consumers are happy to use their voice to exclaim they’re-not-gonna-be-had-no-more, the following was bound to happen:
(youtube video here for the feedreaders)
Consumers: 1 - Unilever: 0
So what prevailed in the end: Honesty.
The Axe ads are macho, groiny, denigrating for women, etc, but at least they’re honest.
The Dove ads pretend to be something they’re not. And worse: are based on the assumption women are too stupid to find out.

JP will have to have his say about this.

Dear friends, instead of making wishlists on all sorts of sites, as of now everything I tag DO_WANT on delicious, would make a great gift idea for me. X-mas, birthday, or just because I’m so damn nice.
Plugg conference.
Plugging the Plugg conference here, (Hey, it’s like kabouter-speak for techies: Pluggerdepluggerdeplug!), for my buddy Robin. And also because I’m going to win the Start-up rally only he doesn’t know we’re participating yet.
A series of tubes.
So the Interweb is a series of tubes after all.
Proof of which: this campaign I did for ING: http://www.i-needtogo.com .
I’ll get into it later, I just thought it was silly that my own blog didn’t cover it yet while so many others did.
UPDATE: Just realised that “I did” sounded a bit big-headed here, of course I did zilch other that come up with it. Yet there’s some truth in it too. It was a pitch in August, with everybody on holiday and only pour old people like me slaving away at the office. Which is also the strength of the project, this would have never seen the light of day with everybody-who-likes-to-have-a-say over my shoulder. Or the client’s shoulder for that matter.
August, hotbed of good creative projects!
